Why Order the Full Site?

Because it will save you time, money, and headaches. Move To Ireland is a unique, one of a kind service that has taken years of hard won experience and thousands of hours of time. You can judge from this freely available site the value of the information provided. But, this free site is merely a teaser. There are many, many more ways to save yourself time and money in the Full Site.

Part of this service is to try and answer your individual questions. I do my best to answer emails within a day or two. Your questions are helpful because then I know what topic to research next. Just remember that Ireland is probably in a different time zone, so your email to me might arrive at midnight here. I am not yet a 24/7 service!

Of course, if you're not moving to Ireland and never planning to do so, you're in the wrong place!

How It Works

All financial transactions are handled by Kagi, a respected U.S. firm which specialises in processing payments for shareware and internet authors. Kagi handles registrations for more than 4,000 products. Check them out. You'll recognise many of the software titles and firms. You can use Kagi's secure order form to safely transfer credit card data to Kagi over the Net. Or, you can fax Kagi your order. Or you can mail your check to Kagi after printing out our form. Or you can telephone Kagi with your order. All checks or money orders must be in U.S. dollars. Non-U.S. funds are not accepted.

Kagi's fax number is +1 (510) 652-6589. Kagi's telephone order number is +1 (510) 658-5244. Once you connect, a voicemail system will give you the option of ordering by phone. Kagi warns that there is an extra charge of $5 to order via telephone, and your order will not be processed as fast as Web orders.

Once your order is processed (usually within 4 hours), Kagi sends you the address (URL) and personal password for the Full Site.

If you lose your personal password, contact Ambit Ireland and I'll re-send it to you. Because of the prohibitive costs of overseas telephone use, Ambit handles all its support via Email. Be sure to include your Email address in any correspondence.

Why U.S. Dollars?

You may well wonder why an Irish company is using a U.S. firm to process its financial business. The story is an illustration of why the U.S. is the world's cultural and financial superpower. Ireland has only three banks which handle credit card transactions. Until recently, if internet transactions didn't begin in-house, they didn't handle them. Ergo, the business went to the U.S. where such secure transactions were routine.

The advantage of working in dollars is that it is the most widely traded and widely available currency on the planet. Pick up any newspaper and open the financial section. You'll find your local currency's trading rate against the dollar. Because the dollar is so universal a currency, any bank can write a bank draft in dollars. You'll pay a few bob for the privilege, but the local bank clerk is used to handling dollars. Try changing to some obscure currency and you'll probably be told to come back the next day.

Does this mean the site is only for Americans? Not at all. The information you need to know about moving to Ireland is the same no matter where your starting point. The Full Site's description of Irish schools, for example, doesn't need to change whether you're coming from Australia or Antarctica. The information is just as relevant in either case.

Exchange Rates

Check these daily updated Exchange Rates.

One of the problems with an overseas move is that exchange rate fluctuations can rapidly change your financial picture. To cite one historic instance, in early January 1998, the Irish pound fell 10 percent against the dollar in just three days. And the dollar-euro relationship resembles a sine wave - up and down, up and down.... The Full Site attempts to deal with these issues, and suggests a few simple ways to protect yourself from short term exchange swings.

Secure Transaction Information

KAGI uses the industry standard SSL Secure Socket Layer. Transactions are verified by a Digital Certification Authority, and the transaction path is secure from beginning to end. What all that technospeak means is that your valuable information is a lot more secure than handing your card to a waitress who takes it to some back room for processing and disposes of the carbon sheets who knows where. Breaking a 128 bit encryption algorithm takes loads of dedicated supercomputer time, and is well beyond the resources of Net hackers.

Of course, if you prefer, you may send a bank check, money order, or fax or snailmail your credit card number to Kagi. Simply click on the Fax link when ordering the site.

Contact

Questions or Comments are appreciated. However, I found myself spending ages answering questions from people all over the planet. It was fun, then overwhelming. And I found that I was distracted from servicing the questions raised by subscribers which should take priority.

So, this e-mail address is strictly for administrative questions about payments, passwords and the like. If you need answers to personal questions, check out the site or subscribe. And feel free to use the site bulletin board.

E-mail: admin@movetoireland.com

I do keep up regular correspondence with large numbers of site subscribers. Part of the service for subscribers is that I try and answer questions not already covered in the site.
